SOUTHWARK SWEEP THE SPORTSHALL DOUBLE!!

Last Thursday saw the Sportshall Athletics season come to an end with the Yr. 3/4 City Finals taking place at NTU.
The Finalists have taken part in a round of heats and semi-finals to qualify for these events so it was a great achievement by all schools to come this far.
The City Finals was very closely contended with the top spot changing throughout. Pupils took to the track with many races being a photo finish and some excellent times recorded. It was very obvious that schools have practiced hard for this event with the baton changes being conducted a lot smoother than in the past to claw back valuable seconds on the clock.
On the field there were some fantastic Javelin throws from the boys which would have pushed many Yr 5/6 pupils to deliver. The balance beam recorded some good times and was led by the girl representatives.
However after the field events Southwark had pushed out in front over Robin Hood and remained there for the final 3 races.
Congratulations to Southwark for a fantastic Sportshall Athletics Season. They have previously taken the Yr. 5/6 SHA Finals crown which took them to the County and won the Bronze medals at their first School Games event. They now progress to the Yr. 3/4 SHA County Championships at The Carlton Academy in May.

Results:
1. Southwark 216
2. Robin Hood 194
3. Ambleside 184
4. Our Lady OP 146
Middleton 146
5. Fernwood 136

A special well done to Our Lady OP who could have taken part in the small schools final, a great achievement to come 4th in the City against schools with more pupils to pick from!

The Small schools final also took part this week with 3 teams entering from schools with a 1 form entry. It is a great opportunity for the schools to come together and compete against similar size schools. The schools all brought their whole class and there was plenty of support from parents on the balcony.

Congratulations to Heathfield for the Gold Medal winning performance!

Results:
1. Heathfield 122
2. Sneinton C of E 88
3. Burford 82
