London 2012 whats in it for me and my school?
With the great excitement of London 2012 less than three terms away we are keen for all schools in Nottingham to sign up to the official London 2012 education site, Get Set, and beyond that to join the prestigious Get Set Network. To date, 75% of Nottingham schools are signed up with 26% signed up to the Network. Our aim is for 100% to register to use resources and 50% to make the extra commitment and join the Network.
We would like to offer you an opportunity to find out more about what Get Set has to offer which includes access to free Olympic tickets and the chance to win a visit from an Olympic or Paralympic mascot or an athlete. You might also be invited on a tour of the Olympic Park.
We feel the best way to interest you is for you to hear from near neighbours who have been involved with Get Set for a while so would like to invite you to a twilight meeting on 15th November at Mellish Sports Centre, part of South Nottingham College.
Registration at the session will open at 3.30pm with a welcome address from me at 4pm. Three local schools and colleges will then present brief case studies of their work and there will then be a chance to chat further in a short networking/market place setting which will include other neighbouring Get Set Network schools.
We will provide food and refreshments at 5 and have the intention of being away by 5.30. So, a commitment of a maximum of two hours and a promise that you will go away inspired to make sure that your pupils really gain from the once in a lifetime experience of Great Britain hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games..
